Navarasa Sansar, emotions through life's journey


"Navarasa Sansar" - Emotions through life's journey, by Arathi School of Dance, Dallas and "Kathak through the ages" by the performing unit of Natya Institute of Kathak and choreography, Bangalore, India.

Held on October 15, 2000 at the Majestic Theater, Dallas, Texas.

Navarasa Sansar explores the emotions through the 9 rasas(flavor) - Shringara(love), Adhbuta(wonder), Haasya(mirth), Veera(valor), Roudra(anger), Bhayanaka(fear), Karuna(pathos), Bibhatsa(disgust) and Shanta(peace) in the context of the lifecycle. Emotions out of which Rasas are born are feelings that all humanity experiences irrespective of race or religion, and the cycle of life is also universal to humanity.

Kathak through ages - Glimpses of Kathak, the classical dance of north India in its phases of evolution from art of Kathakars to Kathak in temples, to Kathak in the court halls of Hindu kings and its zenith in the durbars of the Mughal rulers.
